We know that one of the biggest considerations for families when considering a move to a new town is the aspect of schooling. The most common questions include:

• Are there good primary and high schools in the area?
• Do they have sports facilities.
• Is it difficult to get a place in these schools?

For this reason, we have compiled a list of schools per town in the Overstrand
municipality, covering the towns of Kleinmond, Hermanus, and Gansbaai.

Kleinmond Primary School: is an intermediate school and is a valid, registered, and
prosperous school under the leadership of the principal, 23 teachers and 720
learners. Kleinmond also serves the towns of Rooi Els, Pringle Bay, Betty’s Bay and
Botriver.

Hermanus High School will celebrate its eightieth anniversary in 2021. It is a coeducational,
dual-medium, public school. The school has a proud history of
outstanding academics based on firm discipline and a keen interest in the wellbeing
and development of each individual learner. The school follows the National
Curriculum (NCAPS) culminating in learners obtaining their National Senior
Certificate (NSC) from the Department of Basic Education. Sport forms an integral
part of the holistic approach to education and all the mainstream sports are
offered as well as a number of private clubs offering, bowls, cycling ( MTB & road ),
karate, kickboxing, angling, bodyboarding, horse-riding and canoeing.

Generation Schools, Hermanus: strives to provide a carefully planned stimulating
an environment that assists children with developing within themselves the
foundational habits, attitudes, skills, and ideas that are essential for a lifetime of
creative thinking and learning. Generation Schools welcomes all new students to a
vibrant, innovative, and engaged family, where they strive to develop a
community within a school environment.

The Hermanus campus caters to students from the age of 18 months to Exit.
Students who start within the Nest Phase have the opportunity to stay within the
campus until they have their Degree.

Hermanus Primary School: The vision of the school is to develop the whole child in
a positive environment through quality education. Hermanus Primary school is a
parallel medium school with separate Afrikaans and English classes. It caters to
children from grade 1 to grade 7. The small classes, 25 to 28 children, ensure a
personal involvement in each child’s progress and encourage a love of learning.
The school has a Christian Ethos, based on child centered environment with
community outreach activities.

Curro Hermanus High School have classes in English and Afrikaans with specialized
subjects, a variety of activities, and write the IEB exam in Grade 12.
With small class sizes, dedicated teachers, and an enhanced curriculum, they
empower learners with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high performing,
self-confident individuals who are ready to become the leaders of the
future. The learners even use tablets in class to enhance teaching and learning.

Curro Hermanus primary is an independent school in Hermanus that provides high quality
education to learners from Grade R to Grade 7. With small class
sizes, dedicated teachers, and an enhanced curriculum, they empower learners
with 21st-century skills and knowledge to grow into high-performing, self-confident
individuals who are ready to become the leaders of the future. The school offers
highly specialized activities and subjects such as Robotics, as well as aftercare,
and school transport.

Laerskool Gansbaai is 'n multikulturele Afrikaans enkelmedium skool vir leerders
vanaf Gr R tot Gr 7. By Laerskool Gansbaai val die fokus op gebalanseerde
ontwikkeling en positiewe leer. Toegewyde en talentvolle personeel werk saam om
